Tip #21: How to wash a floor

You need two buckets – one with soapy water and one with just water for rinsing the sponge.

Dip your sponge in the soapy water first, clean a bit of the floor, but then put the sponge in the other bucket to rinse it – cos it’s dirty. This keeps the soapy water clean for maximum cleaning benefit!

Tip #24: burnt on pots and pans

if you burn something onto a pot or pan, no need to toss it. just pour a can of coca cola in, bring to a boil, then simmer for about 5 minutes. let cool. once it’s done, you’ll be able to pretty much rinse out the pot … no scrubbing!

Tip #25: How to remove limescale from a kettle

We use denture cleaning tablets. Add a couple to some water, boil and leave to stand for an hour or so. Rinse thoroughly.

Tip #17: Removing grease spots from the oven

Dampen spots slightly and sprinkle liberally with baking soda. Leave overnight. Scrub with a plastic scrubber. (Works on the bottom of the oven too).

Tip #19: How to clean the toilet

Use all-purpose cleaner or sprinkle baking soda or borax in the bowl. Dampen with a little water to make a paste and scrub with a toilet brush, or make a paste of lemon juice and borax. Let stand for two hours. Scrub thoroughly.

Tip #22: When to flush the toilet?

I heard this on TV, in a thing about saving water:

“If it’s yellow let it mellow,
If it’s brown flush it down”

I’m not necessarily recommending this; in fact feel free to mark it as a bad tip. I’ll be interested to see what people make of this!
